International Children Drawing Competition has been held in Volgograd
From June 6 to July 27, 2019, the visitors of the Volgograd Regional Children Art Gallery can enjoy an exposition dedicated to the 220th anniversary since the birth of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
The works displayed upon the walls and in glass cases – graphics, paintings, appliqued ornaments, and hand-made figurines – are those awarded the first, second and third prizes in the International (free-to-enter) Children Drawing Competition “…And Dear to Us Remains Your Noble Image”.
To poet’s popularity and the inspirational power of his works are stunning even now: the total number of applications submitted for the contest is 4,500. Those drawing and hand-made creations had been sent from all over Russia, Kazakhstan and China, including Volgograd’s twin-city Chengdu (situated in Sichuan province), whose young artists were awarded several diplomas, and Qujing from the Yunnan province, with which the Agreement is scheduled to be signed later this year.
Due to the enormous number of works submitted, members of the competition’s jury – eminent Volgograd painters and teachers in the city’s institutions of art education – decided to increase the number of first, second and third prizes. The names of all participants of the contest have been published in a catalogue, which is currently published at the Gallery’s website, and printed copies of which will later be awarded to the laureates.
During the next year, the works submitted for the competition will be displayed at travelling exhibitions in art schools and comprehensive schools of Volgograd and its region.
Organizers of the competition express their gratitude to the teaching staff and students of all artistic institutions that had taken part in the contest.
